Pewter Viking King Carving Set

This carving set is made in Norway of gleaming pewter and stainless steel. Its design represents the stories of four legendary Viking kings who ruled Norway 1,000 years ago. Many legends have grown around the Vikings of Scandinavia. Renowned for their extraordinary seamanship and fierce fighting, they also had a great fondness for the arts.

The four kings represented in this set are:
  • King Harald Hårfagre – The first King to rule all of Norway, he is famed for refusing to cut his hair until all of Norway had been united, thus earning the nickname Fair Hair.
  • King Håkon – This son of King Harald defeated his brother to become King by offering to give farmers rights to their land. With his peaceful manner, he earned the nickname of Håkon the Good.
  • King Olav Tryvfason – This king was renowned for his strength and athleticism, but died in the Battle of Svolder.
  • King Olav Haraldson – The best known Viking King, King Olav sought to convert Norway to Christianity. After his death, reports of miracles led him to be declared a Saint and helped drive a movement toward Christianity.
